Paper Bag Skirt

At the beginning of the semester when I had all the time in the world I decided I would try to make a skirt from scratch! Before this I had only made a couple of other things from scratch and was super nervous about it. BUT… Skirts are so simple and fun to make! I promise by just trying it, you can whip out at least a decent looking skirt. Plus I used one of my favorite blogs Cotton & Curls and used her tutorial for paper bag skirt. I loved the color she used so decided to copy it EXACTLY… it's not as cute as her's but I love it!

My Blogging Obsession

I. LOVE. REFASHION. BLOGS.
Let me clarify. I am OBSESSED with any blog that deals with DIY crafts, refashioning, up-cycling clothes, or weddings :) but who isn't! It is so exciting to see what someone can do with an ugly dress or even a pillow case! Most of my ideas do come from other Blogs or are inspired from Pinterest. I hope one day I can be just as creative as these lovely ladies. They are so inspiring! Check out their blogs!

This is just a short list of what consumes my time when I should be studying (Like right now! Oops!).

Well right now is finals week but I am going HHOOOOMMMMEEEEE on Thursday and couldn't be more excited. Mainly because I will have all the free time in the world to sew!! SEW, get ready for some fun before & after blog posts! See y'all then!

Dress to Tank

This summer I turned a hideous grandma dress with shoulder pads and all into a cute summer tank all for $1.61! I actually used a tank that I already owned as a template and just simply cut the tank from the skirt of the dress and it turned out lovely!

Simple Skirt Solution

This summer I discovered my love for re-thrifting and sewing clothes so I thought I'd share the skirt that basically started it all for me! I saw this as Value Village for $1.81 and loved the print of it, but it was a little too big and such a weird length on me. With a little big of hemming and taking in it's absolutely lovely if I do say so myself!

I'm so glad I did this! It's one of my favorite skirts!

My Pinterest Creation

I am totally and utterly OBSESSED with Pinterest and saw this scarf and thought it was the cutest thing ever! It's made out of an old t-shirt and lace. I love up-cycling but I didn't have an old t shirt to use so I just ran over to Joanns and picked up some jersey knit fabric and lace. I just used the same idea as the one on pinterest so although it's not as cute I think it turned out pretty fun and super easy to make too!

Scarves are so easy and fun to make I'm never buying one again!

Purple Pleated Pencil Skirt

I made this skirt a few weeks ago and it was a blast!
I sorta made it up as I went along!! I love pleats in skirts so I pleated the top of the skirt and added a waistband. I only pleated the front half so that it would be tight in the back but it made this weird bunchiness in the front so I just took it in on the sides and it turned out great!

Re-Thrift a Blouse

I did this blouse a few weeks ago but though I'd share it with y'all! I took it in at the sides, hemmed it a bit, turned the shirt around so the buttons were in the back, and removed the awesome shoulder pads and collar!

Mens Shirt to Skirt!

This weekend I had a little bit of time on my hands so I headed over to Savers Thrift Store and got this mens dress shirt for $6. It was pretty easy to make! I cut off the length I wanted and added a waist band using the rest of the shirt.

Hi!

Hello!! This is officially my first post of many to come (hopefully)! This blog will mainly be about the things I re-thrift, sew, or daily fun things in my life! I am a busy college student at BYU in utah so I don't know how often I will get to post!
SO a little bit about me, I am from Houston Texas and currently live in Provo Utah. I have an amazing family with 2 crazy sisters and 1 adorable little brother. I have a lot of relatives at school with me which makes it easier to be so far from home. My career goal is to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse. I started sewing clothes in July 2011 so I'm still a beginner, but I love to show off what little work I do!
